Best Moments of 2024
FIRST Championship
It was an incredible honor for our team to return to the FIRST Championship this year by earning the Engineering Inspiration Award at the FIRST Mid-Atlantic District Championship. This prestigious award celebrates our commitment to spreading the values of STEM education and inspiring the next generation of innovative leaders. Held in Houston, Texas, the Championship brought together the best teams from across the globe. It was incredible to see the best robots compete against each other to reach the finals.
STEM Workshops
We hosted STEM Workshops at the Jersey City Public Library, where kids of all ages tackled fun engineering challenges. Activities included constructing a Rube Goldberg machine out of recycled material and launching catapult systems. We hope to continue doing more of them in the future!
Winning!
This year, all our hard work paid off with wins at three off-season competitions:
GirlPOWER is a competition that encourages an all-girls drive team.
Robo Rumble, hosted at Bridgewater Commons Mall.
Ramp Riot, where we triumphed as Alliance Captain 7 alongside SCH Robotics and Miss Daisy.
Repair Cafe Jersey City
At the Repair Café, we helped community members fix broken household items like lamps, clocks, jewelry, and vacuums. This bi-monthly event is not only a great way to give back but also a chance for us to learn practical repair skills.
Liberty Science Center: Engineering Weekend
We were thrilled to return to Liberty Science Center for Engineering Weekend! Our TrashCan robot, Oscar, was a crowd favorite, delighting kids and adults as they drove him around. Children also played mini-robot soccer matches and enjoyed a demonstration of our 2024 robot.
QE Team Bonding Activities
Taking a break from robots, the team went ice skating, which was a humbling experience for many of us going on ice for the first time. We also hosted our annual Holiday Party, where students brought food from their cultures and exchanged gifts for Secret Santa. Overall, it was a great experience to bond with the team and create lasting memories.
FIRST LEGO League
This year we started two community FLL teams for elementary students in Hudson County, representing students from 12 schools. Mentored by members of Questionable Engineering, these teams worked hard to design, build, and program their robots, while also developing innovative projects to present to judges. The teams competed with their robot and demonstrated their projects to judges. Competing in their first FLL events, our students gained hands-on experience in STEM and a firsthand look at the excitement of a FIRST competition.
